Teaching Philosophy

In the simplest terms, I strive to nurture a love of music and learning in our students. Lessons focus on musical expression, technical development, and understanding the mind-body connection. Students develop strong problem solving skills and the ability to learn tasks quickly. By supplementing interest in the violin with aspects of learning, performance psychology, history, and theory, I hope to create well-rounded musicians and intellectuals.

Scheduling Policies

  • 30, 45, and 60 minute lessons are available depending on the student’s age, maturity level, and musical ability
  • Lessons are scheduled weekly during the academic year
  • Summer sessions are more informal and scheduled as needed
  • Studio recitals are scheduled at multiple times throughout the year

Lesson Policies

  • Please bring all required materials to each lesson
  • Parents are strongly encouraged to attend their child’s lesson and take notes
  • Students and additional siblings must show respectful behavior at all times
  • Cell phones must be silenced during lessons

Make-Up Policy

  • Please try to provide advanced notice if your child needs to miss a lesson
  • Paid lessons will be rescheduled
These studio policies are designed to maximize the learning potential for each student. By clearly articulating my policies, I hope to create an environment in which the student experiences the satisfaction that comes from a disciplined and committed approach to learning a musical instrument.
